We were challenge with 2 question that were connected to the text the Anne Frank and we made a DLO to answer the questions. Something that we always do with these tasks is we show respect for both sides of the story.
For Reading we read ‘Painting the Town’ by by Renata Hopkins. This text was about how Christchurch has painted murals all over the city to bring back happiness to the city after the 2011 earthquake destroyed 80% of the CBD. My mural shows where I am from and what I identfiy as.
We read the text Bok Choy for Reading. This text showed us the prejudices that existed towards the Chinese immigrants in early NZ. It also showed us that it is important to show empathy for those who are seen to be different from us. Our challenge after reading this was to write a letter to Ah Sum to thank him properly, as you didn’t have the right words when you were shivering in his hut.
Something I found interesting about the events in this text was that back in those days they did not have what we have now, and their house were made of small rocks and put together to make a little hut for them to live in.
Our task was to rememebr all of the charecters adn how they were reaching to different people when they come to them, if we did not remember how they reachted to that person we could go back to the story and read the story to find the answer and put it into our own words so we haev a better understanding if we write every thing in our own words. One thing that I loved about this task was that we could all go and and find the reachtion of all of the chareters in the story.
Today, we had a task to make a DLO, the task was to show two different sides of an event, give a summary of what happened, and also share our own opinion about it. Our group talked mainly about Johnny Pohe, a Maori man who became a pilot during World War II. We debated whether the risks he took were worth it or if they were reasonable. We found it interesting that Johnny Pohe was actually the first Maori person to be a pilot in the Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF). In my opinion he was the first official Maori pilot because he was the first to go through training and become officially recognized as a pilot under the new RNZAF during the war. Overall, our work involved explaining what he did, looking at different viewpoints about his actions, summarising his story, and sharing what we thought about it.
Our task was to make a DLO about how to refine prompts for AI,one of the main things you can not do is ask the Ai that your’re usign to write you somthing so you can cope and paste it into your work that is just being lazy the best way to use AI is, if the words that the AI gives you is to hard to understand you can change the words to eg: I am a 10-year-old sutuent that wants to know about the text Jonhnny Pohe and the great escape so the words could be understand able.
Dame Naida Glavish is a woman who decided to greet people with “Kia Ora,” a Māori phrase meaning “hello,” instead of the usual English “hello.” By making that simple choice, she sparked a big shift in how New Zealand sees and celebrates its different cultures, especially Māori culture. We think Dame Naida Glavish was someone who started a big change because her small act showed the importance of respecting and using the Māori language, which helped more people recognize and value the country’s indigenous roots. Her action encouraged others to do the same, leading to a stronger awareness and pride in Māori traditions, ultimately changing how New Zealand views and embraces its cultural identity.
For This task we all chose a historical Topic to reserch about. I chose the Polynesian Panthers because I wanted to find out about the back story about the Polynesain Pnthers.
For this assessment we made a Waltzing Matilda 25 word Summary, We took some advice from the stanza to give us ideas on creating our 25 word summary and we also used Adobe express to generate a image with the 25 word summary.
